Professionally he has worked with Opera North, Scottish Opera, English National Opera, Grange Park Opera,
Longborough Festival Opera, and Mid Wales Opera. Roles have included Figaro The Marriage of Figaro, Leporello Don Giovanni, Papageno The Magic Flute, Colline La Bohème, Dulcamara L’Elisir D’amore/The Elixir of Love, Don Basilio The Barber of Seville, Masetto Don Giovanni, Aye Akhnaten and Sacristan Tosca. He has also enjoyed invitational performances at the St Endellion Festival performing Mr Flint Billy Budd, Schelkalov/Boyar Khruschov Boris Godunov and Henry Cuffe Gloriana.

Concert and recital highlights have included the Commemoration of the Somme; Hallé Orchestra conducted by Sir Mark Elder, recitals at London’s St Martin in the Fields, appearances on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru, BBC and S4C television, televised performances from Moscow across Russia as part of the UK Russia Year of Music 2019, and the special invitation from Sir Bryn Terfel to perform in a televised celebration of his career, Bywyd Trwy Gân [Life Through Song] for S4C.

Born and raised in Aberdare in the South Wales Valleys, Welsh Bass Baritone Emyr Wyn Jones is an alumnus of the
Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio.

Released earlier this year he appeared as both Wil and Dr Rees in an Opera-Film Tannau’r Lloer [Fires of the Moon]. Produced and created by Opra Cymru, Channel4 and Severn Screen, it was the first ever Welsh Language feature broadcast on British Television. Airing on S4C and Channel4 available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
In 2025 he received acclaim reprising his role as Papageno The Magic Flute (Opera North) Dulcamara [cover] L’Elisir D’amore (Garsington Festival), Leporello Don Giovanni (Waterperry Festival) and Dulcamara The Elixir of Love, Collatinus The Rape of Lucretia (English Touring Opera). Previous highlights include Basilio The Barber of Seville (Scottish Opera), Banquo Macbeth (Mid Wales Opera), Messenger Oedipus Rex (Scottish Opera/ Edinburgh International Festival), Zuniga [cover] Carmen (Glyndebourne Festival) and Jacopo Loredano I Due Foscari at Cadogan Hall (Chelsea Opera Group).

Gaining recognition for his commanding stage presence and dramatic ability he continues 2026 with more exciting projects across the UK. Beginning the year with his role debut as Figaro Le Nozze di Figaro (Opera North and Scottish Opera) before covering the role of Lieutenant Ratcliffe Billy Budd (Glyndebourne Festival Opera) Voice of the oracle Neptune Idomeneo (Chelsea Opera Group) an intimate limited run as Leporello Don Giovanni (Opera Project) and ending the year touring Wales with a new Welsh language commissioned opera with Opra Cymru.
